Kollam parliament constituency housed of seven assembly constituency are Kollam, Chavara, Punalur, Chadayamangalam, Kundara, Eravipuram and Chathannur.From the old structure two segments(karunagapallyand kunnathur)disappeared and other two segments (punaloor and chathannur)added with kollam loksabha  constituency.A good portion of the high ranges and the plantation sector in the district get included in the Kollam constituency. Earlier these regions were under the Adoor constituency. two comminist parties CPIM(m) andCPI have strong influence in Kollam  parliament constituency.RSP ,an another party in LDF have also their own influences in Kollam parliament constituency.UDF think with a strong personality they can win this constituency.so coming election in Kollam constituency will a strong challenge to both LDF and UDF.
